This summer Minnesota Wild’s Niklas Bäckström has been working out using new and different methods compared to the previous years. The reasons for this have been some of the injuries that have been bothering him during the last 2 seasons as well as desire to get better every year. During the last 3 summers his personal coach Jukka Ropponen has been in charge of the technical training on the ice, but now Nikke has been following Jukka’s new programs also on his off ice conditioning & strength training etc. Every day of the summer has been programmed with careful planning and each workout, drill etc serving specific purpose without forgetting the proper rest, recovery and nutritional programs. In nutrition area Lappidoc has been our partner and their recovery products have been vital part of the program.
In this video interview Nikke talks about his summer training in general, what has been the biggest difference, how he expects the new program to help him in injury prevention and what he has been focusing on at the ice workouts.
