"Maybe, technically, we teach more subtle things," Pasi Nurminen, a former NHL goaltender who mentored a young Niemi, told a Canadian newspaper last year. "But you also have to have the Finnish mentality you need as a goalie. We're shy, quiet, hardworking and even lonely. That's what Antti is."
