Good stuff. It is great to see organizatiosn paying attention to goalies. In Finland most of the teams have full ice always for their practices at this age, but I know the issues with shared ice as when IO coached youth hockey at Rochester we had shared for most of the time.

I guess the main thing is for coaches to remember goalies when they plan their practices. Same drill can be for goalies and other skaters, but the difference will be the pace. Are they coming one after another or will goalie have time to 100% focus on each play/shot.

Nice! I sent it along to my two assistant coaches. I always feel like I have to tell them what to do while I'm talking to the other kids. Maybe this can take some of the pressure off of me to be everywhere and do everything.

Thanks for the share.

Finally making strides in Saskatchewan

Postby MTNGoalie » Sat May 22, 2010 4:41 am

This past year we have offically become the goaltending consultants for the Saskatchewan Hockey Association and have done some goalie coaching clinics. This summer we get the unique opportunity to talk directly to 25 HP1 coaches from Canada and the U.S. This is something that has been lacking in Saskatchewan Hockey for a very long time and we are very excited to be helping to make an impact at the grassroots level on up.

Here is a link to a podcast we have done recently on this same topic.

A lot of these ideas have been borrowed from goalie pro info we have read.
