I was thinking that before I continue posting, it might be proper to introduce myself formally. And leave this thread for others to do so upon their arrival to this section of the forum.
I picked up hockey when the NHL expanded in the form of the Philadelphia Flyers. I was very fortunate to live within walking distance of the Flyers practice rink in New Jersey.
I turned into a rink rat, I played at Southern New Hampshire University, during those years that we moved from a small college conference to NCAA Division III. Let’s say we lost more than we won.
Back then, even the best goalie coaching only amounted to advice such as stay on your feet and come out and cut down the angle. The game has changed drastically, and there is still much to learn, which is exciting.
As far as my admiration of for Finnish athletes, it started when I was involved in track and field. In 1972 and 1976 Lasse Viren stole the show at the Summer Olympics, and in a similar way I remember Juha Mieto dominating the Winter games in a similar timeframe.
I moved to Delaware years ago, and discovered some Finnish history.

I need to visit a museum to further explore the topic.
I’m trying to learn some Finnish as well. I use these learning tools

as well as some other online references.
I go by Cubanpuckstopper at most of the online places I visit. I met Jukka Ropponen about 8 years ago at the Goaliestore’s site. That model has changed; I like the old model better. We met in person at a goalie clinic run by Jukka seven years ago. We have corresponded since, and I still attend the goalie clinic run by Yona Fioravanti each summer after he visits Jukka in the spring.
Jukka extended an invitation to join here, to specifically discuss the technical parts of the position. I was more than happy to accept. If at any time I do something “out of culture” please let me know.
