I received this email invitation from USAH.
I find the choice of speaker for the goaltending presentation interesting, and something of a statement maker.
For the record, am not sold on improving coaches by lecturing in a meeting room, I would rather save the money for hands on experiences, (like instructing at a Goaliepro clinic).
Dear Level 4 USA Hockey Coach,
The 2014 National Hockey Coaches Symposium is fast approaching and spots and hotel rooms are filling quickly. This premier event will be held Aug. 21-24 at the J.W. Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa in Las Vegas, NV.
Dean Lombardi, General Manager of the Stanley Cup Champions LA Kings, will be the opening night keynote speaker.
Dan Bylsma, former head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, and Dr. Stephen Norris, Vice President of Sport for WinSport Canada and a leading expert on long-term athlete development, have also been added to the slate of speakers.
Other confirmed speakers for this year’s event include Jack Capuano (New York Islanders head coach), Jon Cooper (Tampa Bay Lightning head coach), Jeff Blashill (Grand Rapid Griffins head coach), John Hynes (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins head coach), Mike Boyle (US Women’s Olympic Team strength and condition coach) and Tommi Niemela (Finnish Ice Hockey Federation goaltending coach). A final announcement of prominent former NHL players who will participate in a panel discussion will be made in the next few weeks.
Hotel rooms are almost sold out at the $109 event rate. Click on the Hotel Accommodations link below to make your reservation.
